Microfiltration utilizes the latest technology hollow fiber microfiltration modules. Water purification applications for small communities, hotels, industrial applications, resorts, and many other applications. Nanofiltration is a pressure driven membrane process with performance characteristics between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration. Nanofiltration membranes have very good rejection rates of large molecules, and is an excellent energy savings process over reverse osmosis for purifying well water and surface water up to 2000 TDS where the high salt content is due to divalent ions. With nanofiltration, recovery rates can be up to 90%, and operating pressures around 70 psi. However, a much lower percentage of sodium chloride is rejected, and therefore nanofiltration may not be the technology of choice over reverse osmosis at all times. Nanofiltration can be viewed as a chemical free softening process as no regenerating chemicals are used. Ultrafiltration is an excellent membrane technology for removing very fine particles, microorganisms and organics as small as 1000 molecular weight. Ultrafiltration is used for a pretreatment for reverse osmosis, as a oil/water separator, to remove organic contaminants and to provide high quality filtration for industrial applications. © 2006, LIFESTREAM Watersystems, Inc.
Lifestream
Watersystems Inc. manufactures nanofiltration and
ultrafiltration equipment to customer specification. Due to
the specialized nature of these processes, a water analysis
is necessary for Lifestream to select the appropriate
membrane technology and prefiltration equipment and quote
prices and specifications.
