SEAWATER 8,000 GPD R/Os WITH ENERGY RECOVERY

To provide water for summer use, a conference center has installed two Lifestream 8,000 gallon per day seawater desalination skid mounted systems on an island off the coast of Maine. Important to the location was to operate the systems with as little power as possible so energy recovery was added to the systems. In the fall, the membranes are removed and shipped back to Lifestream for cleaning, preserving and winter storage. To prevent damage from freezing, the system was designed so it could be easily drained for winterizing. During the planning process, the systems passed an in depth review by local health authorities to be sure all contingencies had been covered, thus the two systems for redundancy. Lifestream worked closely with all the parties involved to provide the information necessary for decisions and approvals. Since the time the systems have been in operation, the product water quality has been closely monitored and passed all local regulations.
