Lifestream’s systems utilize a hydraulic turbo charger in configuration with either positive displacement pumps or multistage centrifugal pumps to achieve energy efficiency. This results in the high pressure pump of the R/O desalination system discharging at a lower pressure, around 600-650 psi output instead of 875-925 psi thus reducing energy consumption. A smaller pressure pump motor is needed. Standard sizes of systems are offered below by Lifestream. The sizes of these systems have been offered for optimum performance of the desalination system components for pump size, energy recovery design and membrane configuration. Lifestream recommends choosing a system of a size below instead of a size in between, for peak performance and best value of operation. Multimedia Filter Instrumentation & Protective Features

Energy Efficient Seawater Desalination Reverse Osmosis Systems
with Energy Recovery
Energy Recovery (ER) technology, when added reverse osmosis desalination systems results in systems which operate with 20-40% energy savings over systems without ER technology. Though the initial overall capital cost of the system in somewhat higher, this is offset by savings in energy costs which provide payback in 6 months to 1½ years depending on the local price of power. Also, in areas where power capacity is scarce, the SWER is the best answer for the location.
